This morning I received this email (not through my normal email address though - through an email I rarely use) telling me that I've inherited about $3,000,000! Can you believe it? I had a hard time with it myself, but there it is - with my own actual name in the email (spelled correctly). Of course the person representing the settlement says he gets to keep 65% and I get 30% - the other 5% goes to pay phone expenses and such. OK, that means about $500,000 for phone bills. So that started me wondering if this really was legit. 'ya think?

My trusty Dimension 9150 must have sensed that it was about to be relegated to secondary duty as soon as my new Studio XPS arrived. But I promise I wasn't about to abandon it. The very day the Studio unit arrived, the keyboard and mouse on the 9150 died. (See Video Editing on an Antique Computer)
Luckily I was able to simply moved the 3 existing drives to the Studio and copied the data to its new home. But once the Studio was up and running, I turned my attention back to the 9150.

I'm generally a fan of all things Google. But then, I'm also a fan of Microsoft and Adobe... companies that have a mixed set of proponents and opponents. I was looking forward to seeing what Google hath wroth, and on first look it seemed like a nice combination of short updates integrated with my Gmail stream. But today I disabled it for a couple reasons, not least of which is my inability to control the entries from the RSS feeds I added.

Google just announced (right... one more announcement from Google) that they are experimenting with providing 1GB/s fiber connections to individual users. Just to be clear... if you now have a cable modem with a mid level 5Mb/s connection, like I have with Charter.net, this would be 20 times faster than that. For those with DSL connections, this would be more like 100x the current speed. I don't know if I really need it, but I WANT IT.
