OK Now I Get It

Posted by: Scott Koegler in Untagged  on

galaxy-s-captivateLast week the Samsung Galaxy S became available from AT&T as the Captivate... and I ordered it the next day. The Captivate is an Android device (version 2.1) with a 4" touch display and an iPhoneish interface. And I love it.

Is It Really Photoshop Online?

Posted by: Scott Koegler in Untagged  on

pixlrUIWell... of course Pixlr.com is not Photoshop. But if you take a look at the interface and the overall capabilities, you might be encouraged to mistake the cloud based application for a remote installation of Photoshop. And if you don't have a copy of the desktop based Photoshop, you might even be enticed by Pixlr's price... $0.

Camper Cage Remodel

Rocky and Tara-1100299-Edit

In our first camper, a TralMannor, we converted one of the beds into a dual cage to house our 2 greyhounds. We kept them there at night and while we were away from the camper. Our current camper, a 32' travel trailer, has lots more room, and different dogs that need different accommodations.

Augmented Reality - Out There

Posted by: Scott Koegler in Untagged  on

augrealYou may have already heard about "augmented reality." In fact, you may already be using a version of it on your mobile phone. The technology is available on many mobile platforms, and in many levels of implementation. And I think there is a place for it in our daily lives.

This is the 5th and final segment of my Adobe Photoshop CS5 feature review. This one is on the Lens Correction feature. Not entirely new, but greatly improved.

Apple and Location Data - Feel Safe

Posted by: Scott Koegler in Untagged  on

evil-appleI admit it... I'm an Apple biggot. That's a very different thing from being an Apple Fanboi, in fact it's pretty much the opposite. Till now, my stance has always been about the way Apple restricts its customers to its walled garden, and that's been a personal preference that a not-insignificant number of people obviously don't have any serious problems with. But I've been increasingly of the opinion that Apple has replaced Microsoft as the more agregeous offender of corporate control and domination... till now.

Photoshop CS5's High Dynamic Range Feature

Here is number four in my series of reviews of the new Photoshop CS5 features. This one is about HDR, or high dynamic range.

Software Month - A Heavy Load

Posted by: Scott Koegler in Untagged  on

HDR_with_onOne_2_of_2{dropcap}J{/dropcap}une seems to be a month for new releases, or at least updates. I'm counting Adobe CS5 in this, and then along comes Adobe Lightroom 3 and onOne's plugin Suite 5. All in, there are way too many apps to thoroughly test and look at, but as a starting point, I wanted to just put Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3, and onOne's plugins together in some way to see how and what they could produce. So, this is not an in-depth review, but more of a quick look at how the products work, and work together.

Photoshop CS5 - Puppet Warp Strange but Wonderful

Posted by: Scott Koegler in Untagged  on

This is the 3rd in my series of 5 reviews of Photoshop CS5 features. This one is about the puppet warp feature that lets you bend parts of your subject at will. It's one of the more scary features, since you can make your subjects appear in positions they may not physically be capable of achieving. See what you think.
